Even though I rarely get acne nowadays, I still rely on this little tube to control sebaceous cysts that occasionally enlarge behind my ears. Of all the acne products I tried, Effaclar Duo turned out to be most effective in controlling early acne bumps. Most of the times the acne goes away without getting worse and that's OK with me since I don't expect anything to work 100%. But it is very effective in reducing the swelling and eventually making the sebaceous cysts (oil glands) around my ears disappear if I apply it once or twice a day. It has worked so well that I have recommended it to a lot of people. I almost feel like I should get a commission from La Roche-Posay :-)

I found out about this product from someone's blog when I googled something about how to treat adult acne. This product was mentioned and I was excited to try it out and WOW was I even more excited when I started to see great results! I wash my face and exfoliate with a toner and put this all over my face morning and night following with my skincare routine. So this is how I truly know it works.. I started to see my face clearing and I thought will maybe I don't need to use it anymore and boy was I totally wrong! I started to see ugly white heads, than disgusting black head and not to mention the horrific huge inflamed pimple all during my menstrual time and I forgot I had this product, so started to add this to my daily routine again. I do want to mention though, when we get those huge pimple these in time get inflamed slowly and when you cleanse, use toner, this cream and your skincare products than in time you will see how amazing this product will be needed every morning and every night! Don't get discourage when you don't see results right away because just like it takes time to get inflamed than it also takes time to heal. Never pop a pimple or these will leave unwanted scars! I also want to mention that you should know what ingredients are in all your products, including makeup and hair products! Know the facts of what clogs pores because that my friend is our problem when it comes to breaking out! Never wear makeup to sleep always wash that beautiful face everyday, morning and night! I bought this product because of the inexpensive price (I'm used to paying $80 for Obagi). But this didn't work for me. The texture was nice, it left a matte finish, and it did treat breakouts once they happened, but this didn't PREVENT the breakouts from occurring, like a good acne lotion should do. Perhaps my skin didn't like the LHA they put in it because this product made my skin red and it kind of messed with my skin texture. I do better with my glycolic + benzoyl peroxide. I did not like this and I will stick with Obagi!

Ive struggled with acne for years. Ive tried everything from drugstore to prescription products, so I have a wide range of things to compare this to. It has no scent, and a very pleasant texture. It layers invisibly underneath makeup, so I can wear this during the day. Sometimes, Ill even mix it in with concealer so I can cover and treat my pimples at the same time. At night, Ill usually dab this or another acne product on my skin before bed. Using this 1-2 times a day for less than a week brought two deeper spots on my forehead to the surface of my skin. Not exactly pleasant, but it just goes to show how potent this stuff is. I prefer benzyl peroxide to salicylic acid, and this contains an impressive 5.5%. That being said, it dries the heck out of my skin. Id definitely recommend it as a spot treatment, as opposed to an all-over acne fighter. For the price, Id recommend it. It seems to compare to my prescription acne benzyl peroxide products. Id pair this with a good, fragrance-free cleanser and a light moisturizer. I only wish it were an all-over treatment with some moisturizing properties. That would make my morning routine a little quicker!I dont know if Ill repurchase it, but Ill definitely be reaching for it when I need to kill a nasty pimple.

It does peel in some areas so you need to pay attention to how much you put on. I stay clear of my eyes and mouth. Does lighten your eyebrows so try not to get on them. I love this. I have a love-hate relationship with this product. It really burns when I put it on because my skin is so sensitive but it has helped me with a lot of my acne. Its not a miracle worker but it does do its job. Sometimes it may cause you to break out even more but thats because its trying to clear out all of your acne at once. If your acne is little to mild, Im sure this will work perfectly. However, if your acne is severe then this will help, but dont expect to be clear right away. Overall, great product though!
