Hunting for inspiration for a date night look or other makeup trends to try yourself? From new ways to use classic makeup to twists on 2016-era eyeshadow looks, there’s no denying makeup is making big changes this year. We’ve scoured the web to put together our predictions for the biggest 2025 makeup trends and had our employees put them to the test, so you know they’re achievable. We’re trying:

Trend: Blurred “cherry” lips

Pinterest Predicts 2025 saw cherry coming into our lives in a big way, and we’ve already seen the classic red making its way into TikTok makeup trends. This year, however, we see the blurred lip trend of 2023 making a resurgence—with 2025’s cherry red and 2024’s iconic glossy finish.

Using the Glo Skin Beauty Precision Lip Pencil in Moxie, our Design Project Coordinator Sara applied color to the center of her lips and blended with a fluffy makeup brush into the corners of her mouth. Then, she applied her favorite plumping gloss, Clinicans Complex Lip Enhancer in Clear, over top for volume and hydration.

Trend: Ethereal eye makeup

There’s no denying that sci-fi and fantasy made a major statement in 2024, and its effects are lingering into the new year. With dreamy, fairy-inspired colors combined with classic makeup techniques, we predict a lot of otherworldy looks making a statement in 2025 makeup trends.

With the RMS Beauty Eyelights in Blaze, our Social Media Coordinator Megan applied color all over her eyelid. Then, she used a fluffy eyeshadow brush to diffuse the edges. To finish, she created a soft wing using Laura Mercier Caviar Tightline Eyeliner in Cocoa, buffing out the edges to create a dreamy, soft-focus finish.

Trend: Maximalist eyes

In Covid-era 2020, bold makeup looks took a major step back, but they are here again and bolder than ever! Coming straight from the “Unrecognizable” TikTok makeup trend, maximalist eyeshadow looks are seemingly here to stay.

Our Social Media Lead, Ashley, used the Mirabella True to You Eye Palette in Buff to create a cherry-inspired eye look with the deep burgundy and shimmer shades. She focused the deeper shades on the outer corner of her eye, using a rich brown to create a liner, and finished with Colorescience Total Lash Peptide Tubing Mascara to define her eyelashes.

Trend: Multiuse products

In 2025, we’re sensing a shift in consumers wanting products that offer more than one benefit. Monochromatic looks are making a comeback, with single products used to create lip, cheek and eye color.

Our Senior Graphic Designer, Zoe, chose the jane iredale Just Kissed Lip and Cheek Stain in Forever Peach to create her look. Using her fingers, she blended a custom color on her cheeks, patted onto her eyelids, then built multiple layers on her lips to create a cohesive look.

Trend: Lip care with skin care benefits

Makeup with skin care benefits already holds a major spot in the market, but in 2025, we’re finding those benefits extend to the lips. Who said peptides can’t be used to plump fine lines and create the perfect pouty lip look?

Zoe is taking accutane right now, so she needs some extra hydration in the lip department. She topped her monochromatic lip look with patchology Rose Lips Hydrating Lip Sleeping Mask to lock in color and amplify the nourishing benefits of the lip mask.

Trend: Mocha mousse lips

Mocha mousse is the Pantone color of the year, and this cozy color will likely make its way into fashion, home and beauty all year long. While brown lip liner was a major makeup trend last year, we see brown lips making a mocha-mousse inspired shift in 2025.

Using Ere Perez Acai Lip Pencil in Pout, a soft brown shade, our Senior Site Merchant Meg lined her lips. Then, following with Dr. Hauschka Lipstick in 13 - Bromelia, she filled in the middle and blended it together.

Trend: Full-rimmed eyeliner

Billie Eilish dropped her pre-show makeup and hair routine in late 2024, and it has all of us favoring the full-rimmed liner look. Whether you choose black or brown liner is up to you—and the occasion.

Meg gave this makeup trend a try using the Osmosis Skincare Accent Defining Eyeliner in Cocoa and brown eyeshadow from the Mirabella True to You Eye Palette in Buff. She started by lining her inner and upper waterlines and gently buffing the liner out with a small brush and some eyeshadow along the outer edges.
