MZ Skin founder Dr. Maryam Zamani is here to share the story behind her brand and its latest product launch.

My name is Dr. Maryam Zamani and in September 2016, I launched MZ Skin in Harrods department store, which was my first retail partner and a dream come true for me. Fast forward five years and I’m so proud of how far MZ Skin has come with more than ninety global retail partners, including LovelySkin.

From surgery to skin care

I think life experiences really pave the way for each person differently, and that has definitely been the case with my career path. After completing my ophthalmology training in the United States and relocating to London, I completed two oculoplastic and reconstructive surgery fellowships while my credentials were being transferred over. This was when I became interested in hyaluronic acid fillers, doing research for their aesthetic and reconstructive purposes in patients with deformities from previous traumas and cancers. Without surgery, we could dramatically improve the aesthetic appearance of the face, which thrilled both the patient and me.

This prompted me to learn more about the skin and what other non-surgical treatments could help my patients—and this is when I completed a dermatology course with Cardiff University. Soon after, I started my private practice in London, doing a combination of all the learning I had done: both surgical and non-surgical facial rejuvenation. MZ Skin started as a passion project for something I wanted for myself and my patients: clean, effective formulations, backed by science for the modern-day woman who wanted skin care with a luxurious experience.

Less is more

My ethos in my medical practice is that less is more. In skin care, too, I recommend a simple routine that can be sustained. My philosophy is the best routine is the one that you can keep. The key principle of MZ Skin is to reveal, enhance and protect the skin. What does this mean? It starts with cleansing and exfoliating the skin to reveal beautiful, healthy new skin and making that skin more receptive to the other actives that will be placed on top. Next, it involves using an array of ingredients such as peptides, antioxidants, retinols, hyaluronic acid and stem cells, to name a few, to enhance the skin and help improve skin quality, texture and tone. And finally, the last step is to protect the skin again with antioxidants and SPF to prevent further damage.

Introducing MZ Skin’s latest hydrating serum

I am thrilled with our newest MZ Skin addition, the lightweight Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Serum. This serum harnesses the power of Reishi and snow mushrooms, both brimming with anti-inflammatory benefits to help reduce redness, irritation and inflammation while also reinforcing the skin barrier. Dr. Zamani’s routine

I am often asked what my favorite products are, but the truth is, I love every single one of my products. They are a labor of love and I have made them with science and my patient in mind!
