I have been using Dermalogica’s Special Cleaning Gel for years, I am 62 and have skin that is on the dry side and have never found this gel cleanser to be drying. Just leaves my face and neck feeling nice and clean free of residue. Love it.

Great Combined with PreCleanse
LovelySkin sent me a sample of this product and the PreCleanse. I've never combined cleansing products before, and have historically used glycolic-based cleansers. I was amazed at how well these two products combined made my skin feel. I live in a hard water area, so getting my skin clean without it feeling tight/stripped can often be challenging. I felt that my skin came away cleaner and with no residue. My day and evening moisturizers, retinols etc. all seemed to work better as well. You don't need to use a lot of Special Cleansing Gel. I find a dime-sized amount generates plenty of cleaning power, and much beyond that is wasteful.
