Only my third week of using this product, I started off slow three times a week. So far so good no excess peeling or drying out of my skin. It seems gentle enough. I am going to increase slowly and see how it goes. Overall I like it so far. I purchased the cleanser also, having trouble getting it to later up though.

Good beginner retinol
I’ve heard the best retinol is whichever one that you can use consistently. Given that I’m currently on my second bottle of this, I think this qualifies! I’m 30yo and hadn’t used a retinol prior to this, I also have sensitive skin. I really like it and it lasts a long time even with nightly use.

I found that after I started using this with the Triple Lipid by SkinCeuticals I was about to use more frequently with no side effects at the .25 level. I can say that .25 may seem low but you find out how powerful it is if you don't respect it starting out and try to jump into daily use!!

Don’t let the .25 deceive you
…because this formulation does the trick. Have returned to this product which I kept in steady rotation a few years ago. Even after one treatment, my skin looked better in the morning. I tried once to move up to the .5, but couldn’t handle the flaking/peeling. Even at .25 I am working my way up from 3 applications a week. Potent yet gentler by far than any retinol treatment I’ve tried whether Rx or drug store. Bonus: over time this retinol product eliminates milia. Excellent skin clearing properties.

I’m going to give SkinMedica 25% retinal five stars and if I could give it more I would give it more. A Necessary Addition to Skincare
I have 70 year old skin, and have been using retinol for several years now. This retinol seems stronger than others I have used. I did get some irritation on my neck, so I am now using it every other night on my neck. It may be a little soon to say this is better than other retinols, but I am pleased with it thus far. I also like the additional ingredients that SkinMedica has added to their formula, the PhytoShield Complex, which is an antioxidant complex. I decided it was time to try this brand and this product, being that it generally gets rave reviews from its users. I would encourage others to try the SkinMedica Age Defense Retinol Complex.
