A smoky eye is one of those classic makeup looks that never goes out of style. If you’re not skilled with makeup, creating this look can seem daunting. That’s why we’re making it easy for you. In this video, our LovelySkin aesthetician, Kristen, demonstrates how to create a smoky eye in five simple steps.
Prime
Priming is essential to this look. You wouldn’t want to create the perfect makeup look only to have it crease, smear or wear off. Start by applying Youngblood Stay Put Eye Prime to your entire eyelid. This will create a blank canvas for your eye makeup.
Shadow
Next, take a light shadow of your choice and apply it from your lash line to your crease. In this video, Kristen is using the light gold shade from glo minerals GloMetallic Smoky Eye Kit. Then using that same brush, move to a shade darker and apply this dark gold shade to half of the eyelid.
Blend
Then, using a blending brush like glo minerals Eye Blender Brush, bring a darker shadow into your crease, creating a V shape in the corner of your eye. Blend well by moving the brush in small circles to soften any harsh lines. Kristen is using the dark bronze shade from the same eyeshadow quad.
Line
With an eyeliner brush like glo minerals Eyeliner/Brow Brush, line your top and bottom lash lines with the darkest shadow in the palette.
Lashes
Finally, top it all off by curling your lashes and applying two coats of mascara. In the video, Kristen uses Youngblood Outrageous Lashes Mineral Lengthening Mascara.
That’s all there is to it! Depending on the shades you choose, this look can work for a day at the office, a casual outing or a night out on the town. Experiment with different colors and create your own unique look.
