One of the hottest trends this summer is a beautiful pink lip. Paired with bronzed cheeks or a smoky eye, this look can be very versatile. In this video, one of our aestheticians, Kristen, demonstrates how to pull off a pretty pink lip using products from LovelySkin. Learn how to take this look from runway to everyday with this easy-to-follow tutorial.
Start by applying your regular foundation over your lips to create the perfect base for your color. Foundation conceals the natural tone of your lips and lets your lip color show its true hue. In this video, Kristen uses jane iredale Glow Time Full Coverage Mineral BB Cream. You can apply the foundation with either a brush or your finger.
Next, outline your lips with a lip liner, which will help prevent your lipstick from bleeding and feathering at the edges. Start with your bottom lip, make an X at your Cupid’s bow to give your lips definition and finish lining the top lip. Then, fill your lips in with the same liner. For our tutorial, Kristen chose jane iredale Lip Definer Pencil in Rose.
It’s time to choose the perfect pink lipstick for your complexion. Fair or light skin tones look gorgeous with peach pink shades, as well as pinks with hints of lilac or rose hues. Medium skin tones look beautiful with almost any shade of pink, especially ones with caramel and brown undertones. Try to avoid colors with blue undertones, which can make the complexion look washed out. Last but not least, deep skin tones look stunning in bright and bold pinks, from light to dark shades. Avoid neutral hues, which can wash you out. Of course, if you already have your favorite pink lipstick picked out, you’re all set!
For this tutorial, Kristen is using glo minerals Suede Matte Crayon in Sorbet. Apply your lip color starting with your bottom lip. Make an X at your Cupid’s bow to give your lips definition, then apply color to the rest of the top lip. Finish by blotting your lips with a tissue and applying a second coat of color, if needed.
For a pretty day look, dust your cheeks with a touch of blush and apply a light coat of mascara. If you’re going out, try pairing your pink lip with a sultry smoky eye.
