I used Cetaphil for decades until I learned about parabens and then they changed their formula. There’s something about the niacinamide in the new formula that causes extreme Irritation to my skin. This product, Tolerance Is very similar in application and texture to the original Cetaphil. I like how it spreads with no tugging, gently exfoliates by softening dry dead skin cells which I then wipe away. To remove I only pat with tissues around my eyes and forehead. Sometimes I find it helps to leave a generous amount of cleanser on for a few minutes for extra softening before removing. Full makeup is off in 2 passes. After my face feel supple and hydrated. I’m almost at the end of a bottle, but I noticed some burning last time. I used it. Looking at the ingredient list it’s obvious what could be the problem. I am re-ordering it and I will update as necessary.

I wanted to like this after they discontinued the oil-free cleanser and Avene’s recommended replacement was this. But this made me break out immediately. Only then it occurred to me to look at the ingredients and saw it’s got fragrance and colorants, which explains my breaking out. Idk how they’d think this cleanser would be a good replacement for users with sensitive skin. My sister does love it and use it regularly. She doesn’t have my sensitive skin, of course.

This used to be my holy grail cleanser. Creamy but lightweight and with a pleasant herbal scent, it did a great job of cleansing my skin without stripping it. My dermatologist first recommended it to me & I happily used it for a decade. And then, for some unknown reason, Avene decided perfection wasn’t good enough. They tinkered with not just the packaging but the formula, touting it as “new & improved”. But what they really did was ruin one of their best products. The heavily chemical smell would be almost tolerable if the texture wasn’t greasy, cloying, & hard to rinse off. But once you DO manage to get it off your face, you find that it’s taken all traces of moisture with it. I used it for a week & my skin aged a decade. I cannot express how disappointed I am & I’ve already begun buying their competitors’ products instead. Avene, you really screwed the pooch on this one.
