Smooth gel for scars

I had a pacemaker put in June and my dermatologist recommended Cicalfate products for my scar. I waited a few months and now use this clear gel like product every night. It feels good on and has no smell. I hope it will lessen my red scarred area.

Great scar gel!

I’ve been using an oily balm on a surgical scar, which is fine when it’s covered but attracts pet hair and can stain my clothes. I sought this gel out knowing a bit about cica, and I’ve been pleased. It has a dry finish (thanks to silicone) and is great for uncovered scars during the day. May pill with multiple layers (I apply each time I do my range of motion stretches, so I’ve been washing in between). My scar looks great!

AVENE Cicalfate + Scar Gel

I am new to this product, but when i am not wearing a face mask this product seems to “smooth over” the light acne scars on my cheeks. The Calcifate has always kept my sensitive skin reactions under control....no redness or irritation.

Scars are fading

I had surgery on my face that left a very thick, red scar. After 5 weeks using other products, I tried a combination of pure aloe gel, followed by the cicalfate. I massaged both in twice a day. After 4 weeks The thickness of the scar is gone and the redness is fading. It didn’t happen overnight, but it did seem to happen suddenly, after a few weeks of persevering. I am continuing use and hope the scar will fade more after 8 weeks. The gel is colorless and odorless and seems to absorb in to my skin. During the day I put a layer of silicone over it for protection, at night I just rub in the aloe followed by the cicalfate.

Awesome!

I love the feel of this cream it feels soothing on my neck scar. I'm still testing this out and I know it won't completely remove a surgical scar but I do believe it is improving the skin texture.

Nice soothing product for initial treatment, but you may want to find an add'l healing product too...

This is a non-greasy soothing gel with a 'slight' cooling feel. In terms of scar reduction, it didn't offer much for my situation. I had a punch biopsy in the middle of my cheek. When I inquired with my derm about a product for healing to hopefully reduce scarring, I was told to use petroleum jelly, and was given a ketchup size packet. Initially, it worked as a nice neutral occlusive, but should you wish to aid in redness, and scar reduction, petroleum alone will likely not do enough. Because the biopsy site was in the MIDDLE of my cheek, I continued to search for something to additionally aid in healing & scarring reduction. After using the recommended packet of petroleum for a week or so, I then tried a topical that a friend (who works for a derm) had offered. It turned out that this was just another occlusive of petroleum, with the addition of silicone... surprise, this didn't do much to reduce swelling, or redness. (I am quite fair with natural red undertones.) I eventually found, "Avene Cicalfate+ Scar Gel" mentioned here in reviews, and decided to give it a go. For the price point, and soothing feeling, I give this an 'A'. It's a gentle product for minor wounds once you're past the point of an open wound. In terms of the reduction of redness and swelling, it offered some relief. However, I think because I was a little late in finding/using the product, AND because I am fair skinned and naturally have red undertones, the site is still red 6+ months out. I do think this helped, but it probably did a more for pain relief. If I had this to do over, I would have used petroleum jelly for the first 5-7 days, then "Avene Cicalfate+ Scar Gel" to reduce pain/swelling, and in the interim consult a good esthetician regarding an additional product to aid in cell turnover and tissue repair.
