I say surprisingly because I’ve purchased so many beauty products that promise one thing or another and do absolutely nothing. My dermatologist recommended this brand to me for my incredibly (ridiculously) sensitive skin. My 55 yr old skin is dry on the chin and cheeks and oily on the nose and forehead. I also like to breakout with angry red pimples. When I combat the pimples the other parts of face react contrary to what is ideal. Too dry, too irritated or too red. Enter Avene products and some actual relief! This moisturizer brought my dry parts back in line within two days! No irritation and adverse effects on the oily parts! Gentle and effective hydration is what this product delivered. My mom is in her early 90s and she’s a hardcore user of a different brand. I find it didn’t full moisturize her face leaving it looking papery with a dry fragile feel. I put this moisturizer on her and after one application her face looked better! After one week’s use, her skin no longer was papery, was more hydrated and felt normal to the touch. She actually prefers it over the other brand! Now that’s a testimonial!

This cream is nice and rich. It unfortunately caused my face to breakout, which is atypical for me with this line of skin care. That said, I have been using it as a hand cream -- albeit a pricey hand cream. It has worked wonders on my winter hands. I love this product because it is great for very dry sensitive skin like mine. On clean skin I use the Avene Thermal Water, and while it is wet I put the Extreme Emulsion on first and then I use the Hydrance cream on top of that.
