This goes on a lot like a balm, or like an Aloe Vera gel (except it's not as sticky!). It smells great, but not overly strong. I bought it originally to use on two scars, one being a keloid scar and the other from stitches. I've ended up using it on my whole face to deal with subtle acne scars, and have noticed an improvement in my skin's smoothness, especially where I had a lot of teenage acne (that I couldn't stop picking at).
