Obagi Sun Shield Matte SPF 50
This sunscreen absorbs nicely and leaves a matte finish as indicated when I follow a simple morning routine (cleanser, moisturizer, sunblock). It doesn't make my face look shiny or feel heavy like some other sunblocks. However, on days when I have to use layers of other treatment products and use this sunscreen as the last step, it tends to pill/ball up and roll off my face while applying it gently! It's kind of annoying so for that reason, I will not purchase this again!

One of the best matte sunscreens out there, but not perfect
I'm still searching for that perfect matte sunscreen and while I haven't found it yet. This one is pretty close. It does eventually dry down matte, but my only complaint is that it's a very thick formulation that can easily pile on makeup if you're not careful to apply a very thin layer. It's taken some trial and error on my part, but I've gotten the hang of it now. I would recommend this to other combo/oily people out there, just be sure not to apply too much at once if you plan on wearing foundation.

It offers great coverage, with almost no white cast (even on my brown skin) and the hyperpigmentation on my face is progressively fading so I know I'm being protected. I also use an Elta sunscreen, so these two will stay in my rotation. My derm actually recommended and uses this Obagi sunscreen, but admits that many of her patients like Elta as well.

One of the best sunscreens I've used
It applies easily, feels good on the skin, even though I'm very oily, it leaves a matte finish. The white cast is minor, considering the high zinc oxide content. It can be easily covered up with a tinted moisturizer though. It can pool around eyebrows and nostrils if it's not patted (rubbed in) in well enough. The only issue is the price point, it is cost prohibitive for an everyday product that must be applied liberally multiple times a day. Overall, this is a great sunscreen.

Really great feel and texture
I just switched to this sunscreen recently from the Shiseido Ultimate Protection line that I have used for years and years, before they reformulated their SPF 50 to the WetForce formula, which I hate. This Obagi sunscreen is lovely. It has a very matte finish that is nice under makeup, and it doesn't leave a strong white cast if you prefer to go without makeup. I wish there was a little more zinc oxide in the formula, just to feel more protected, but I would absolutely purchase this again. It, or another Obagi sunscreen, will now be my everyday sun protection.

Silky and effective sunscreen for the face
This sunscreen has a silky, smooth feel -- not tactile or sticky at all like other formulas. Another good thing about it: no scent. I put it on after my toner and serum and before my tinted moisturizer. I dont wear much makeup but the tinted moisturizer, concealer, powder and cream blush that I usually use layer well on top of it. I would have given it 5 stars if I had felt 100% at ease about the PEG compound and octinoxate in the ingredients. For now, the sun protection outweighs the health concerns about those chemicals.

Not completely different but it is different.
I thought I can stop looking for a sunscreen when I found Obagi Nuderm spf 60 years ago but now I going to have to continue my search for the perfect sunscreen. It is not just the packaging that is different but the texture is also different. It's a lot more matte than the old product. With the old product its easier to apply on and it make my skin look natural and dewy. This new product is thicker, harder to apply, and much too matte that make my problematic skin looks problematic. The new bottle is good but not as good as the old one. Please bring the old on back!
