Love that this is not a serum but a liquid... it is light but potent. Does not bother my sensitive skin. I find this to be more of maintenance product vs strong pigment correcting product.

Helps as part of a regime
I go to a dermatologist who recommended the use of Discoloration Defense as one part of a skin regime to reduce my melasma. I am also using other products to lighten my patches but I can tell a difference in the texture of my skin using this product. The improvement in lightening the spots is subtle. Rating 4 stars because I think this works in conjunction with the other things I'm doing to solve the problem but can't say what the result would be if I only used this and not other products prescribed by the MD. It's worth a try, even subtle differences would matter to me.

Good but not miracle product for correcting skintone from too much sun
It will take time If your skin has discoloration from too much sun. I have 69 year old skin that spent my early years without sun screen or didn’t reapply it again even with a full day at the beach or hiking in high altitude. I also lived on a sailboat for several years and while I prided myself for always putting on sunscreen first thing every am as a ‘wiser’ adult, I often forgot reapplication. Now I’m trying to eliminate brown spots and they are gradually fading a little more each month with consistent 2x day application.. I’m not sure they’ll completely disappear but I have definitely seen noticeable fading from this product. It’s worth the money but be realistic and consistent.

Still too early…
The ONLY reason I gave this 4 stars is that I don’t feel I’ve used it long enough yet to really be 100% sure of results. But I can say with certainty that I love SkinCeuticals, especially the serums knowing they absorb so well to protect & heal the skin. It’s all about healthy skin to me & this company provides what it takes! Yes it’s pricey but I’m so grateful to LovelySkin making it a tad more affordable.

Nice serum!
The serum absorbs into skin rather quickly. I do see a shade lighter on my dark pigments on my nose. Excited to see the results with continued use. I have sensitive skin too... does not irritate my skin which is a plus! Definitely recommend. I gave it a four star because it is quite expensive.

Melasma Help
This helps with melasma and to maintain clear skin without discoloration. However, there are other products such as cyspera that actually gets rid of any type of discoloration. With consistent use, it helps, but it should not be the only product used. It won’t get rid of discoloration like prescription products.

Noticeable Improvement
This product has definitely reduced my freckles and marks from sun damage. Several people have commented on how my skin recently since I started using this product that my dermatologist recommended. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is that I do not like the glass bottle. I already dropped it once and it shattered. Had to buy a brand new bottle and it is expensive.

Skin Discoloration
A good product, that needs consistent use to be effective. I personally prefer hydroquinone RX for great results, as this will not work for dark freckles, etc,. But, I do use it daily. It is good with an effective IPL program for clear skin.

Prevention of blemishes
This product does give my skin a nice glow when applied. It does prevent discoloration when it comes to blemish formation when you have a pimple but you have to have already been using the product prior to having a pimple and to have use it for an extended amount of time. 1.5-2 months or so. Trust me when I say this, I had no blemish when I had pimples. It helps calms and soothes the skin of redness from exfoliation. The reason I give it 4 star is that niacinamide opens up my pores even though it is said it tightens pores. It works in the opposite way for my skin.

For the stubborn spots

Skinceuticals Discoloration Deffense
I use CE Ferulic in the morning and Skinmedica retinol 1.0 at night, combining this product in my regimen doesn't show much different. Maybe the other 2 serums that I use has given enough exfoliation for new skin to resurface that adding this to the regimen won't show changes. But this doesn't irritate my skin or cause dryness.
