Order of application makes a difference
I really like this hydrating product. It's a nice alternative to Skinmedica's HA5 product because is doesn't lead with a silicone in its ingredients list. In fact, it is silicone-free! I don't object to silicones, as they have smoothing and occlusive properties that can be welcome, but so many skin care products have them. I don't like to layer silicone upon silicone. And this product does have two kinds of hyaluronic acid, instead of five, but that's okay. I imagine it has a small and large molecular version of each. Anyway, it's not totally clear as to which order to apply this product if you use multiple ones. Best I can tell, apply this after your serum(s) and before your moisturizer. That said, I tried applying it before "Good Genes All in One," and it pilled. To me, Good Genes is both a serum and moisturizer, so I thought it should go on last, as it feels to me like a moisturizer. But it pilled over this Hydrating Complex, even though I waited about a half hour. So next time, I put the Hydrating Complex on AFTER the Good Genes. No pilling. I don't know if that's the correct order of application, but pilling is a deal breaker for me, having to do with foundation. So right or wrong order, I'm set!

moisturizing
This is a gel moisturizer, which is not really what I was expecting but it IS moisturizing in an odd way. It almost absorbs yet it sits on top of other products (retinol, c-serums, brightener) so it feels like I've put on a light peel mask. Then it dries. Then I feel like I need more moisture. However, if you follow the Hydrating Complex with a creamy moisturizer, like Dermal Repair Cream, that weird, almost moisturized but not quite satisfactory sensation goes away and the product probably does its job of binding moisture to the skin. I can't tell if this particular product is doing anything fantastic in and of itself but I will say that all SM products work extremely well together and are absolutely amazing. I'll probably buy this again in the future but maybe not on a regular basis as part of my regimen. I'm thinking probably mostly in the winter time.

A nice serum that works as advertised. Unlike some other hydrating serums, the consistency is a little bit thicker, so its not quite as difficult to apply as others can be. It dries very quickly and doesnt leave your face sticky as some others I have tried. The only reason I am knocking off a star is the price as I do feel its a bit pricey.

This product came as a free full size sample! It's winter here, so it came at a good time. I put it around my eyes, mouth and cheeks where I seem to get dry during the day. Goes on smoothly, dries quickly and works well under moisturizer and mineral makeup. It does what it says it will! Happy with the gift, but don't know if I'll let it replace my vit-c serum routine.

This works well - very similar to the Skinceuticals B5 Gel I have used for years on advice of my dermatologist. Good for my super dry skin. Put it on BEFORE your moisturizer.

This is great for under sunscreen in the morning. It has an elegant formulation that really sinks right in the skin and plumps it up. The only reason i am giving it four stars instead of five is because it just cannot beat my all-time, five star fave Neocutis Bioserum.
