I purchased this since I liked the Surface Shampoo and Conditioner (Awaken for thinning hair) and my previous thickener, Alterna Hemp Thickening Compound, is apparently no longer being manufactured. What I like about the Surface Awaken Thickening Cream is that it provides hold as well as the thickening properties. It contains saw palmetto, a common ingredient used to help thinning hair. It is safe for colored hair. I am sort of freaked out since I was just starting to gain ground on my hair loss eight months after my last Hep. B vaccination. Then, in October, I had a flu vaccination followed by a tetanus vaccination and was dismayed and alarmed that the hair loss returned with a vengeance! I believe vaccinations are important but had I known that there was a possibility they could cause hair loss, I would have given getting vaccinations more thought.
