How to Properly Apply Sun Protection

Protect yourself against damage by learning how to properly apply sunscreen products.

How to apply sunscreen products

Video Summary

Hi, I’m Natasha with LovelySkin.com. We’ve all spent extra time applying sunscreen only to find out we missed a spot or two. There is no science to achieving flawless sunscreen coverage, but there are plenty of ways to make sure you keep your skin safe.

Sunscreen, like EltaMD UV Daily SPF 40, should be applied about 30 minutes before going outside and reapplied every hour and a half to 2 hours. You should also always reapply after swimming and using a bath towel.

Throw away outdated formulas and only use a physician-approved product on children under 6 months of age.

When applying spray formulas, keep them away from your eyes and make sure you hit each section. Don’t be afraid to go over an area again, you can never apply too much! Sprays are especially helpful when covering your back on your own.

If you’re applying a cream, lotion or similar formula, you should use at least one ounce on your body and a quarter-size amount on your face.

Make sure you cover every exposed area. Some of the most commonly forgotten areas are the ears, lips and the part of your hair. It’s also important to cover your feet if you’re wearing sandals. Find sunscreens at LovelySkin.com/SunProtection and call, email or live chat our customer care team if you need help choosing a formula.

Thank you for watching
