Learn about Latisse for eyelash enhancement from Joel Schlessinger MD

Video Summary

Women will spend hundreds of dollars on mascaras, falsies and treatments that promise to create longer and thicker lashes. Sometimes, however, they need a more powerful solution to combat lash thinning and loss. Latisse is the first FDA-approved eyelash enhancement product proven to create longer lashes. In this video, Joel Schlessinger MD explains the benefits as well as the risks of using this prescription-strength serum.

As we age, our lashes naturally become thinner and lighter. This, along with aggressive makeup removal that causes hairs to fall out, creates a thin and sparse look. Latisse replaces these lost lashes and encourages them to grow longer and thicker. This product is applied once a day, usually at night, to the upper eyelid just above the lash line. You can also apply this serum to the eyebrows to create a fuller appearance.  After using this product for one to three months, most users see significantly longer lashes that are also darker and thicker.

While Joel Schlessinger MD sees very few side effects from this eyelash enhancement product, there are certain risks associated with this serum. Individuals with blue eyes should be especially careful when applying this product. It is important to make that none of the solution gets in your eyes because it may cause the iris color to change. This effect occurs in a very limited number of people but if you notice a change in your eye color, discontinue using this eyelash enhancement serum.
