How-to Halloween: Cleopatra

For a classic beauty costume, transform yourself into Cleopatra this Halloween. Follow this step-by-step video to create a queen of the Nile look using your favorite makeup products.

After applying your regular foundation, draw in thick arched brows with a dark brown brow gel. For this look, we used jane iredale PureBrow Brow Gel in Brunette. Next, apply a lid primer, which will help keep your eyeshadow in place all night. Using a light blue eyeshadow like jane iredale Eye Gloss in Aqua Silk, cover the entire lid, reaching all the way to the brow bone. Apply a lighter shade like jane iredale PurePressed Eye Shadow in Magic on the brow bone to add definition to your eyes.

To create Cleopatra’s signature cat eye, line your top lid with a black eyeliner like jane iredale Mystikol in Onyx and carry the line into the inner corner of your eye. For the outer corner, draw the line out until it almost meets your brow. Then, draw a line down at the same angle as your brow and fill in with eyeliner.

Next, apply white eyeliner on your waterline to emphasize your eyes. We chose jane iredale Eye Pencil in White. Then, using a black liner like jane iredale Eye Pencil in Basic Black, completely line your bottom lid, extending to the inner corner.

After you have lined your eyes, use a glitter shadow like jane iredale 24K Dust in Silver to add a little sparkle onto the middle of the lid. Finish your eyes with two coats of volumizing mascara in black. For this look, we chose jane iredale PureLash Lengthening Mascara in Jet Black.

Apply a soft bronzer like jane iredale PurePressed Base SPF 20 in Teakwood on your cheeks and finish your makeup with a neutral lip like jane iredale PureMoist Lipstick in Madison.

Complete your look with straight hair and some gold jewelry. Now you’re ready to walk like an Egyptian!
