by Marie|October 23, 2014
Rosie the Riveter is a recognizable yet understated costume that you can easily pull off this Halloween. Follow this simple makeup tutorial to achieve the look.
To start off this Halloween makeup look, begin with your favorite foundation and apply a setting powder to create a matte finish. Use an eye pencil that is slightly darker than your natural brow color, such as glo minerals GloPrecision Eye Pencil in Black/Brown, to emphasize and slightly arch your brows. Before you move onto the eyeshadow, apply a primer such as jane iredale Lid Primer.
For the shadow, we used the natural colors in the jane iredale Triple Eye Shadows palette Sweet Spot. Sweep a neutral shade all over your lid with a fluffy brush and then add a slightly darker shade to the creases. Blend well using the same fluffy brush. Use a gel or liquid eyeliner such as Mirabella Magic Marker Eyeliner Black to line the top lashes. You can keep this simple or create a cat eye for a more dramatic look. Finish the eyes with a couple coats of theBalm What’s Your Type? Mascara Tall Dark and Handsome.
Make sure your cheeks are rosy by using blush to create a more natural look. We used glo minerals GloBlush in Papaya on the apples of cheeks and blended it out for a natural flush.
The one element that really pulls off this simple makeup tutorial is the red lip. Outline the lips with glo minerals GloPrecision Lip Pencil. to prevent the color from fading and bleeding. Fill in the lips with a matching color like bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lipstick in Call the Shots. You can use a small brush and concealer around the lips to fix any mistakes.
To finish off this Halloween makeup look, pull your hair up and add a red bandana, blue collared shirt and blue jeans. Use this simple makeup tutorial to recreate a timeless icon with all of your makeup essentials.
