My favorite sunscreen!
I have tried several different brands of sunscreen over the past 20 years. Some of them were recommended by dermatologist, and that list includes EltaMD sunscreen. It becomes my favorite sunscreen because it's not oily, but my skin stays moist. It doesn't leave any white residue, and it feels light. Most importantly, it is scent free.

Works well, color is lighter than UV elements, darker than UV physical
This sunscreen works well but is just a bit dark for fair skin. Reducing the amount will sheer out the color, but also reduce sun protection. Personally, I mix it with the untinted version, and the color turns out much better. This tinted color is somewhere between the EltaMD UV physical (lightest) and UV elements (darkest of the three, and is more orangey). It's a pity because I love UV element's texture (very moisturizing) but hate the orange color. UV physical's color is just right, but the texture is way too dry for my dry skin. UV clear is an okay compromise, but I cannot use it around my eyes due to chemical UV filter.

This sunscreen would be perfect if it was water-resistant and matte. It left a sheen which I did not care for. Living in Hawaii, I didn't feel secure wearing this sunscreen during the hot summer, as it would just melt off with sweat. It would probably work for the very short, less hot Hawaii winters. Otherwise, it felt lightweight and pleasant.

I have used the Elta MD Sunscreen for a few years and love the product. I tried the tinted sunscreen, knowing it would provide some color, which would be good for days when I don't really want foundation. Unfortunately, the color made my skin have a red tinge about it. This is the best sunscreen I have found so far, and I have used sunscreen daily for more than 30 years. It is not thick or white, but covers well and doesn't really smell like anything. It also pairs well with most other products. It may pill if I rub at it, but only while wearing certain antioxidants underneath. It even disappears into my eyebrows, which is a huge plus. It will be hard to win me over to another product.

I read about this product in the Wall Street Journal, an article that I felt was fair and unbiased. There are many things I like about this product: 1) easy to apply from a dispenser so that you can control amount of product you want to use. 2) contains a slight tint which compliments my skin tone. 3) It's non-greasy and goes on smoothly 4) since I am in my 70s and admit to wrinkles, this product doesn't settle in the wrinkles, but blends into my skin. 5) most importantly, it protects my skin well from further sun damage. Best Sunscreen especially for sensitive skin
I have been using Elta MD Clear for years now. I recently developed numerous severe topical allergies, possibly in response to a newly diagnosed immune disorder, and had to give up most of my skin care products due to preservatives, fragrance, and other common allergens. I have combination to dry skin with yellow skin tone. EltaMD UV Clear Broad-Spectrum SPF 46 is light, not sticky and absorbs fast. It includes niacinamide, so I use it as a moisturizer during the day. Because I have used different sunscreens with different ingredients, I noticed that sunscreen with up to 9% of zinc oxide won't leave a white cast. I hate trying new beauty products
I don't like trying new beauty products because I have dry, sensitive and acne-prone skin. Every time I change up my routine, I usually break out. My brother recommended this product to me and insisted I wouldn't break out. The first few times I tried it, I felt a tingling sensation (most likely due to the zinc oxide). It's a little pricey but I feel like it lasts 4x longer than other moisturizers I've used in the past. Hopes this helps. I was not given this product for free nor was I paid for this review. I'm just thorough and love finding good products that don't break me out. Please don't discontinue this one!
