This seems to do the job. I just feel like Elta wants you to put a lot on your skin. If you follow what they recommend you’re supposed to use the barrier renewal, am lotion and then the sunscreen. It can be hard to apply makeup afterwards. I’ve noticed in the summer months especially July my skin can have an oily shine to it.

I have really stubborn melasma, so I wear this just about every day no matter the weather or time of year. I don't burn or get much color on my face if I use this sunscreen and wear a hat, and my melasma remains somewhat in control (I can cover it with light makeup).
