Use as intructed.... Can be harsh on fine hair
I gave this relaxer another try in 2020 after having had a bad experience in 2013, basically 7 yrs later because I was desperate to control my frizzy curly hair, here in tropical climate South Beach. The reviews were always good so I figured I probably didn't apply it correctly the time before. After my second shot at the hair straightener, the results were different. I think I must've gotten an expired one in 13' since it made my hair stiff and shineless, super thin, flat. It made the strands act in unusual manner when wet, gooey, straight with a weird curl pattern.... I was relieved to see the chemical process completely "revert", despite it being permanent. The 2nd time, the results stayed put and like the 1st round, effect was harsh & extreme. I tried many different hair treatments and oils to reduce the chronic dryness, brittleness & breakage. I never had a chemical relaxer make my hair so hard before, but that's probably my fault since I left it in hair longer than instructed. I advice anyone using this product to follow the steps in the pamphlet exactly as it says. You start at the nape of the neck and as you finish off at the hairline, time should be up soon after and wash out immediately, thoroughly! I waited longer because I wanted the hair surrounding my face to get more treated, similar to the rest of my tresses. Big mistake. Unfortunately, as much as I love this brand, the product did not work out for me and do not look forward to using it again. The keratin treatment is the only thing that helped heal, bring back natural softness.
