Being 69 years old with very dry skin, fine lines, and wrinkles, I spoke with a consultant at Lovely Skin and asked what retinol product to use. She suggested the SkinCeuticals Retinol 0.5 cream at this time. I do use it about 3 times per week but since I live in upstate New York, I sometimes skip a week as my skin is very dry. I do like that I had some peeling on my face so I know the product is working. I would purchase this again as I liked the results.

Wonderful retinol for older skin
I used to use a retinol product when I was younger and it really helped keep the wrinkles at bay. However, I knew this stronger product would play havoc with my aging thinning skin. I am almost eighty but my skin is still in very good shape as I religiously used good products to maintain it. I wanted a more gentler retinol to keep my skin in the best shape and I found it. I use the SkinCeuticals .05 only about twice a week and sometimes even skip a week. It works without drying my skin. I don't expect a miracle but this is close!

Good way to start
I used this product to acclimate my skin to retinol before I moved up to 1.0. I tried to rush the process and used every night and my skin got dry. When I followed the directions my skin handled it beautifully. I would highly recommend this item but also recommend following the instructions.

This 0.5 strength is perfect for my dry skin. I am able to tolerate use every night with the triple lipid restore afterward. Seems to make my pores look smaller as well as for aging concerns. Don't forget your sunscreen as it can make your skin sensitive.

Fabulous Retinol - worthy of hefty price!
SkinCeuticals have wonderful products. This retinol is wonderful especially if the 1.0 is too strong, but the .3 isn't quite strong enough or if you're just building towards the 1.0. This product tightens and keeps my skin hydrated. It's a definitely must for aging skin just make sure to wear your sunscreen!

I love this retinol, I started with the .25 percent and after I was adjusted I switched to the .5. I did peel a lot when I started using the .5, but it is worth it. I will continue using this product.

Very Strong!
I think the quality of this product is great. However, beware that it is VERY strong. I have used retinol .5 in other brands with no issues. However, this one caused constant peeling (even after diluting with moisturizer, using sunscreen and applying less frequently). If you are new to the Skincueticals brand I would recommend starting with the .3 even if you are used to higher retinol percentages.

I just started using this after many years of using Tretinoin cream which is a prescription. This seems to be a good product and not much dryness with it. I’ll stick with it and assess when I’ve used it for a longer time.

This is a reasonably priced product and it’s potent. I have developed major sensitivities to retinol so this product didn’t work well for me but if your skin handles retinol well this would be a great product for you. I recommend starting with the .3 and slowly moving up. My sensitivities are because of hormones and nothing to do with these products FYI.
