Reviews For SkinCeuticals Retinol 1.0 Maximum Strength Refining Night Cream
Super Strong
I had to return this item unfortunately because it was so strong. I used another .5% retinol and thought I was ready for the 1% but I wasn’t. Definitely do not use multiple days in a row to make sure your skin is ready for this. I was hoping for an eye cream for every night use but this was just too strong for me but I’m sure works great for other people.

Pretty Good
Generally I use prescription tretinoin but purchased this in a bind. It is strong but didn't irritate my skin considering I already use a retinoid regularly. Overall I still prefer my go to as it glides on easier & seems to be a bit more effective for my skin. However, I will definitely continue to use this until it’s gone and would recommend Skinceutitcals.

A Great Product
I have used Skinceuticals for over 15 yrs because of its excellent reputation and it does exactly what it says it does. Over time, you will get excellent results (remember, the damage did not happen over night). This retinol 1.0 is very effective. However, although it is creamy, it does not glide on as smoothly as another brand I had that literally spread and felt like silk. A pea size of retinol is all that is is needed on the face; and the easier it glides on, the less amount you find yourself using. I will be ordering my previous retinol once done with this one. Nevertheless, I give this product an A but not an A+.

Effective but Irritating
I made sure to start with SkinCeutical’s 0.5 Retinol before starting this one to help acclimate my skin to retinoids. Would definitely recommend a similar approach because this product was still very irritating for my skin! It’s been a month of consistent usage and my oily, acne-prone skin is still dry and flaking. Love the other results I’m seeing though?

My favorite Retinol
I have been using it for the past few years. I applied retinol and then SkinCeuticals A.G.E. Interrupter Wrinkle Cream.

Wrinkle solutions.
I have been used SkinCeuticals retinol 1.0 for over a year. My skin looks brighter, firmer and sun spots disappeared. You need to be patience in the first 3 months, there will be dryness, and redness, you need to apply a lot of moisturizer and pause retinol for 1 or 2 days then continue every other day. You will appreciate how beautiful the skin looks after 3 months

A little too much for my drier skin
This was too strong for me, even though I started with a gentler level and moved up to this. Had redness and flaking that took a while to go after I stopped with the retinol. Might work for others but was too much for dry skin, and expensive.

Takes getting used to
I’ve used this product for over a year and still have peeling. Overall gives amazing results of exfoliating skin but my skin remains sensitive to using it.

A gentle retinol, even at this maximum strength
I find everything that Skinceuticals makes really high quality; the prices are very high, it’s true - yet the products are concentrated, a little goes a long way, and I think they are effective for my late 60’s complexion. I went up to the 1.0 after using .5 for some time, yet I did not find either of them irritating, as I have other Retinols (sometimes even when I’ve been using sparingly to get skin acclimated, I will still have peeling & some irritation). I do have intermittent skin sensitivity (not continua), so sometimes I need to take a break from Retinols when that occurs. As long as I ease back in, I can use this product without having to buy an additional, lower strength.

Be careful!
I am using this product for my acne! It can dry out your skin. I recommend using every other day! I have seen some improvement!

Nice Product
I’ve been using other retinol products for many years. This one is the strongest (and my skin is sensitive). I’ve been using it one time per week until this week where I will use it twice a week. Because I haven’t used it enough, I haven’t quite figured out the consistency. It seems to be a little thick. This product may take a number of months to figure it all out. Not giving up!

Really works!
I have been using this Retinol product for about 3 years & it really does what is meant to. At my age (51) shading the dead skin cells is a most in order to keep the wrinkles away & my skin looking fresh, tight & even in tone. It is on the stronger side. I gave it a 4 stars bc I dislike the tube package is not practical

Great product for OTC
This is a nice product if you can’t get a prescription for tretinoin. It worked nicely. Nightly use renewed my skin and revealed smoother skin texture. I do think tretinoin works a little better but I will definitely keep this on hand for use when my prescription runs out!

SkinCeuticals never disappoints
I started with the .5 and worked my way up to 1.0. So far, my skin has adjusted just fine.

strong
Good product, the 1.0 strength needs to be introduced gradually or it can be a bit abrasive. I advise starting with the .05 and working up. I tend toward SkinCeutical products because of the great science behind them and their efficacy.

Not sure It's helping me yet.
I have used this about 6 times in about four weeks. I started using it every day and then I started to peel. Oops, I thought I would be okay using maximum strength since I had been using The Glycolic 10 Renew Overnight and that didn't make me peel. My skin has still not gotten used to it ,so I am now using it about once a week. Have I noticed a difference? I have noticed my face looks better but I have gotten a few pimples. Has it helped my blackheads, no I don't think it has. I should give this a few more months in order to make a better assessment and use it on a more regular basis. Other than the peeling I haven't had any negative reactions.

No nonsense
I am 42 and have never had botox, fillers, etc. but have used retinol products since my late 20s and have very, very few fine lines despite being fair with a lot of sun exposure. This definitely kicks the retinol game up a notch. I peeled at first, although I used retinol for many years before, but it's been effective. The Skinceuticals brand is excellent in general, and this is the strongest thing I know of on the market before going prescription. If you have sensitive skin, back away though.

Strong Retinol Product
I thought I could start out with the 1.0 Maximum Strength Retinol Product because I use so many scrubs, etc. But, I was mistaken. This product is strong. You definitely need to begin with with the .5 strength. Now I have reduced the amount of product I am using, and the frequency, and my skin is no longer peeling. It is a good product, just believe the fact sheet when it states to begin with the lower dosage.
