Be patient
My skin had to adapt to the retinol 1% cream. For the first week, there was a lot of peeling and dry patches (I thought that was also part of the process for new fresh skin), so I skipped a night here and there and moisturized my skin. I am about 3 weeks into my nightly retinol and there is no more peeling. My face looks fresher and brighter, but I am waiting to see some of my sun spots lighten and hopefully disappear. I am going to give it a couple of months or until I finish the first purchase of retinol.

Strong!
This has so far been too harsh for me to use without redness and peeling, even when using CeraVe night moisturizer as a buffer. I downgraded to the .5, but think the 1.0 is more effective. I''m going to have to build up to it.

Very Effective
A little goes a long way, and follow directions on frequency of use - twice a week to start is enough to get results without drying your skin. Work up gradually to every other night. Love this, have used it a year.

Good Stuff!
I am a tried and true Obagi user. Wanted to try another retinA product for my skincare regimen, so I thought I would try this. It's amazinggggg! Make sure you wear your sunblock, because it does make your skin photosensitive. Using any retinol product aides in the absorption of other products, so for me it's a must have. Try it, you'll love it too!!!

Mild for a 1% Retinol
I had been using a .5 for quite a while and decided to try this 1%. I haven't used Skinmedica for quite a long time only because it was too expensive but this product was less than the .5 I was using. I have been using it for a couple of weeks now and have been able to use it every night without any issues at all. So far so good. I didn't give it 5 stars only because I haven't used it long enough to see if it really makes a difference but so far so good!

Go Slow When Starting Use
Years ago, I had a prescription for Retin-A and my dermatologist commented how well my skin tolerated it, so I ordered the 1.0 thinking I don't have sensitive skin. I was wrong. I had a lot of redness and peeling after using as directed - twice a week...so much so I didn't want to leave the house. I should have started with the .5 concentration. I'm trying it once a week now and am following it with a moisturizer and my skin is tolerating it so far. I'll slowly increase frequency of use. It's too early to see results, but it is definitely strong! Looking forward to seeing the results.

Peeler
If you have sensitive skin you may want to purchase the .50 to start with to work up to this one. It goes on creamy and sneaks up on you.

Too Early To Tell
I just started a few weeks ago so too early to tell. I love that it doesn't dry me out too much and I haven't gotten too red. Will continue to use and review again later.

SkinMedica Retinol Complex 1.0
I'm looking forward to my new skin as this product, after only 2 uses, mildly shed old dry skin. I may start just using it on fewer areas of the face instead of all over.

Delivers as promised
I have been using SkinMedica retinol products for several years. I started out using the 0.25 and progressed to 0.50 and now am using the 1.0. This retinol does not irritate or dry out my sensitive skin. It absorbs quickly. My skin is smooth and clear. I believe that using this product has kept my skin free of deep wrinkles. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a retinol product that does not make your skin red and flaky and produces results.

Solid Retinol
Nice retinol with great slip. Be warned though - it's stronger than most!

so far so good, but start slow
I used this cream for one day and two days later, was red and dry. I used again 3 days later with better results. Just read the directions and FOLLOW them. This is my first time using retinal.

Good retinol product
This was a good retinol product that has given me good results, without leaving my skin raw. Easy to use. When I use this I sometimes put a hydrating serum over. Skin looks great in an am.

This is seriously strong stuff
The texture has less slip than expected, so keep that in mind when trying to distribute the pea-size amount over the whole face. I had been using a low-strength retinol product from the drugstore for about a year. I then tried a trial-size of a competitor 1.0 product every other day with no trouble, and then I switched to this product without interruption. I still started slowly--3x/week for the first week, then every other day for the following week. My skin felt completely fine. After using it 2 nights in a row, my skin became very sensitive and red, and my skin peeled. This stuff is strong--my skin felt so raw that even water was irritating. It took 6 days to recover, and I am going to re-try with the 0.5, upon advice from the kind consultation that I received from a LovelySkin.com staff member today.

Easy Does It
The jury is still out for me on this one. I had been using SkinMedica Tri-retinol complex which has a lower formulation of retinol. Coming in at 1%, this formula is stronger, and it is taking my sensitive skin a while to adjust. Right now I can only use this product every three or four days, but I am hoping that once my skin adjusts, I will be able to use it more frequently as I do like the results.

so far so good
I am trying to find a retinol that is not so harsh for my skin. I have only used this a few times, but so far the dryness does not seem to be as bad as with other products. I intend to keep using this.

Good Product for Aging
Many dermatologist have told me to use Retinol as an anti-aging cream, so I have continually tried to work a Retinol cream into my weekly skin care routine. I have tried many variations of Retinol, but most are too harsh for my skin and cause excessive dryness and peeling (I think this is mainly due to the combination of other products I use as well but love and want to keep using). This product has replaced Skinmedicas no longer available Tri-Retinol Complex which I had been using for a few years. I had used Tri-Retinol because it was not as strong and caused less peeling than other Retinol creams. I have used Retinol Complex 1.0 for about 2 weeks and do like the results. I have given it 4 stars instead of 5 because it does cause more dryness and peeling than the Tri-Retinol Complex, but the dryness and peeling lasted only one day (whereas with other Retinol products I peel for several days). After the peeling is done, the results are great.
