I’ve tried a lot of sunscreens, from drugstore shelves to high-end brands online. In my experience they all had one or more of the following demerits: shiny, uncomfortable texture, running into eyes causing irritation. This product provides a perfect matte finish, feels almost like lotion, and never gets in my eyes. I’ve used it exclusively and religiously for several years. Best Facial Sunscreen Ever!

This was one of those products I was hesitant to buy due to the price tag. At first, I thought spending this much on sunscreen was absurd and that I could get by with a basic drugstore one. While those are better than nothing, I have noticed a world of difference using this. Not only does it do a great job with sun protections but it doesn't feel like sunscreen on my skin as it doesn't get oily and greasy, isn't too thick, doesn't smell weird, etc. Because of those reasons alone I love it but it also ensures I always apply it and carry it with me to reapply it as opposed to others where I would skip if I had to wear makeup and things.

The best ingredients and the best results for combination skin
I have tried dozens of moisturizers with spf and of sun protection creams of all types, all consistencies (fluids, light creams, thicker creams, powder, tinted or not), and this absolutely is the best in all respects for year-round consistent use. Why is that ? The lotion is more like a light cream which goes on very smoothly, provides excellent protection from city sun to outdoor activities, and sets quickly to a truly matte finish but also provides a subtle glow. Alone it is very comfortable and does a good job of smoothing and unifying: skin looks far better than without, pores are less visible and stay that way, complexion is durably matte without emphasizing dry spots, and even giving a healthy glow. So it ends up being a great sun protectant while providing all the benefits of a day moisturizer brimming with good for skin ingredients. And once settled, you can leave it at that or layer with a light foundation or a tinted sunscreen (the same product in its tinted version works wonderfully, you can just apply a thin to medium layer on top, depending on the amount of color you want to achieve). The non tinted is the perfect base as it actually doubles up as a primer without calling itself one. BY FAR the best sun protection product I have used. My skin is pretty good, combination with visible pores, tendency to shine, but few wrinkles considering my age (58). This product keeps me matte and primed and DOESN’T emphasize dry areas, doesn’t settle into wrinkles, does minimize pores, and is easy to apply and comfortable to wear. I only switch to a water resistant one when I’m swimming or otherwise exposed to water, like for my hands. Considering its performance and the generous quantity for a face product, the price is fair and justified. And regular LS discounts allow it to be an even better buy. I only wish SkinMedica would come up with a similar product in a larger size that could be applied daily to other exposed body areas (eg. arms, legs, hands).

Non-irritating sunscreen
This is my go-to sunscreen right now since I developed an allergy to the one I was previously using for years. Usually I find anything with zinc is too drying for my dry, sensitive skin, but if I use a normal-dry skin moisturizer and serum under it I don't get dryness or flakiness on my forehead. If your skin tolerates zinc well or you have oils skin, you may not need a moisturizer under it. There is no fragrance either, which is a plus for me. I find this sunscreen doesn't work well with all foundations, since it made my liquid foundation go on patchy and looked dry, but with my tinted moisturizers or my favorite stick foundation, it looks fine. Luckily my skin is good and I only have a couple sunspots to cover, so its not much of an issue for me. I wish the SPF 50 version was as nice as this SPF 34 since I like higher protection living in TX, but the higher SPF is very thick and uncomfortable. Since we are still dealing with the pandemic, SPF 34 is fine, and the product also protects from blue light, which is more of an issue now being in front of a screen all day working from home.
