In the evening, apply a pea-sized amount of this retinol night cream to clean skin, avoiding the eye area. Allow for absorption before applying other skincare products. Limit initial use to once or twice a week, gradually increasing frequency as tolerated. Follow with SkinCeuticals Triple Lipid Restore and a sunscreen the next morning.
Retinol is prone to increase photosensitivity. Always use a high, broad-spectrum sunscreen when using this product. As a precaution, retinol cream products should not be used by pregnant women, or women who intend to become pregnant in the near future. Though there are no reports of topical retinol having any negative effect on fetal development, always consult a physician.

Even this lower level of retinol is too harsh for me. I think I’m just not a good candidate for this kind of topical. I switched back to an AHA based treatment for my combination, mature but acne prone skin and that works a lot better. People still think I look ten years younger than I am without me asking, so I will take the win by using a good skin care routine.

This is must less harsh on my skin -- Zenni really messed with my ph balance, left me flaking and red/raw all the time, even after getting slowly acclimated. Not all retinol’s are formulated equally. Prescription retinols from the dermatologist are usually stronger. Depending on the reason you’re using a retinol, (if it’s as an anti-aging treatment or for acne). It’s recommended to start with a low dose of the active ingredient. I’ve used prescription and over the counter retinol. In my opinion SkinCeuticals offers the best product of varying strengths. I started using 0.3% once a week with great results! This retinol is not harsh and excessively drying. It’s also not overly emollient like some prescription retinols that try to counter the drying effects. A little bit is all you need to cover your face and neck before bedtime. When you wake up and wash your face your skin tone is even and all you need is a moisturizer with sunscreen and your all set! I highly recommend all products by SkinCeuticals, but if you have to chose only one, this is it!
