Apply a small amount to face and neck every evening. If a retinol product has never been used before, begin twice a week 2-3 days apart, increasing frequency slowly until daily use is tolerated. Do not use if you are pregnant, lactating or planning to become pregnant. Mild redness, peeling and irritation are expected when using this product. Use a sunscreen and limit sun exposure while using this product and for a week following.

Within a couple of days, I could see slight flaking in those areas around the mouth more prone to loss of elasticity, but gradual improvement overall. SkinMedica has the best products, especially this Retinol cream. This is a higher percentage so you need to start with the .25% and work your way up. Now I use the 1% daily as the first step in my regimen. I have sensitive skin and this doesn't irritate it at all! I highly recommend this product!

I am a long time 1% retinol user and wanted to switch from a more drying one, made by a pharmaceutical company, to one for mature skin. SkinMedica Retinol 1% with its many buffers (squalane and various oils) , spreads easily, doesn't make my skin peel and actually feels good upon application rather than feeling dry and tight.
