Apply a small amount to face and neck every evening. If a retinol product has never been used before, begin twice a week 2-3 days apart, increasing frequency slowly until daily use is tolerated. Do not use if you are pregnant, lactating or planning to become pregnant. Mild redness, peeling and irritation are expected when using this product. Use a sunscreen and limit sun exposure while using this product and for a week following.

Everyone has an opinion on retinol :) For me, retinol was a key part of overcoming major melasma, in addition to hormones, SPF, sun, etc. I've tried retinol from several providers and the SkinMedica brand is best tolerated on my skin. I usually stick to 0.5, occasionally the higher powered one, and always include a gentle moisturizing creme to provide support to my skin. I tend to alternate nights.
