*Contains sodium metabisulfite, a sulfite that may cause allergic-type reactions including anaphylactic symptoms and life-threatening or less severe asthmatic episodes in certain susceptible people. The overall prevalence of sulfite sensitivity in the general population is unknown and probably low. Sulfite sensitivity is seen more frequently in asthmatic than in nonasthmatic people.
A hydroquinone derivative from the leaves of the bearberry shrub, cranberry, blueberry, some mushrooms and pears that has melanin-inhibiting properties.

Measure ½ to 1 gram (approximately 1 to 2 pea-size drops) and apply evenly to the entire face twice daily or as directed by your physician. Avoid contact with the eyes.

The original Nu-Derm line lightens with hydroquinone while the Nu-Derm Fx line lightens with arbutin. Arbutin is a safe, non-irritating hydroquinone derivative/alternative. Many patients use hydroquinone in cycles due to its potent nature, as they find that their skin will not tolerate it over long periods of time. Sensitive and problematic skin types cannot tolerate it at all. With arbutin, patients can continue to enjoy skin-lightening results even if their skin is too sensitive for hydroquinone or they are between cycles of hydroquinone products. It’s also great for maintaining results achieved from using hydroquinone. The main benefit of the Nu-Derm Fx line is that it is more gentle and less potent than the original Nu-Derm line. If your skin is fairly tolerant of hydroquinone and you have little to no issue with continued use of hydroquinone products, there is probably no need to switch to the Nu-Derm Fx line. If you’re a patient with sensitive skin or you’d just like to give your skin a break, the Fx products are a great way to continue to address hyperpigmentation without irritating side effects.
