Reviews For EltaMD UV AOX Elements Tinted Broad Spectrum SPF 50 - Upgraded Formula
The new formula does not do it for me!
I liked the old formula better. It was thinner and had a nice glowy sheen. Also, the tint worked better for my complexion. The new formula looks unnatural on my skin—dark and flat. I only use it around the house when I telework and when I go outside for walks in the neighborhood.

Preferred Old Formulation of UV Elements
I used the old formulation of UV Elements for over 8 years since the tint blended well with my skin tone and I am a religious daily user of a mineral sunscreen. It was a great daily substitute for foundation and felt light on my skin. LovelySkin recommended this as a substitute for the discontinued UV Elements so I gave it a try. The first use of the improved formula burned my eyes. It applied smoothly but felt a little too thick, melted off my face in heat/humidity, and transferred too easily to clothing for my liking. The color is also too orange for me. I used the single bottle that I purchased but have since switched to another EltaMD tinted mineral sunscreen. Wanted to love it because the old UV Elements was my go-to (I raved about it to friends and family) but I felt that the revised formula was not a comparable substitute for the discontinued UV Elements and I was not willing to pay a higher price for a lesser quantity. All in all, the sunscreen felt silky smooth on my face but the revised formula was not for me.

Disappointed
I’ve been using the EltaMD UV Clear Tinted Broad-Spectrum SPF 46 for long time. For me there’s not any sunscreen like this. However, when I saw it has been released with an upgraded formula I wanted to try it but I didn’t like it at all. This version is heavy, it’s not easy to spread it through the face. I feel that I have to pull up the skin to achieve it. Other thing is, the color ; it doesn't look natural on skins that aren’t white nor black . Thanks Elta for not discontinuing the EltaMD UV Clear Tinted Broad-Spectrum SPF 46. I’ll return to it.

Too orange but nice coverage
I have a mixed review. I love Elta been using for years. I love the clear but has been pilling when I apply make up. Something changed. I tried a sample of AOX. I really like the creamy texture and coverage. Sadly I can't wear it alone because the tone is too orange. However it doesn't pill when I apply my foundation so it's a better choice. Would love if Elta would use the tone in their tinted sunscreen. That one is just too sheer.

Not like the original
It's surprising that this original Elements was discounted, as it was so popular! This one is way too dark, a bit thick and greasy. Might work for someone, but if you're expecting an improvement on the original Elements formula, this isn't it. Love EltaMD though.

Elta MD AOX
I love the AOX over the other Elta physical sunscreen for the face. Although I wish the tint didn’t turn, on the orange side after it has been on for a while. Wouldn’t mind if it had more of a neutral pink tone where I can always powder and highlight over it for a more personalized color. What I do like about the AOX over the other tinted physical spf’s is that it doesn’t pill if I attempt to put a fair amount of the product on during application being sure that I get complete coverage, therefore protection.

Not exactly like the discontinued one
This one was listed as a replacement for the discontinued one. I did not like this one as much. The shade is darker (a tad too dark for me). It also seems more orange than the previous one. It is thicker and has better coverage which is nice, but it transfers more easily. It doesn't wear as well under makeup as the discontinued one. Alas, not for me.

Preferred the UV Elements this has replaced
Disappointed in this 'upgraded' formulation. Much preferred the UV Elements.

Sad to return
Normally I love all of Elta MD. I use their regular tinted sunscreen, and thought I’d try the UV AOX. This product rubbed off on my shirt when I got dressed. Maybe I had too much on? I’m switching back to the regular one and will now try the untinted one. I’m still a bug fan of Elta MD!

tint is off
This version seems a little thicker than the old version and that's okay with me. What I'm not happy about is the tint of this product. The old version matched my skin tone better, this one is too yellow.

Good But Not My Color
I've always liked & trusted this brand. The regular (no tint) & other tinted (no AOX) worked well on my face, with or without makeup. This formula's color & texture isn't for me. It doesn't spread or blend well. The color on me is "artificial". I wish I liked it because of the ingredients, but this is a no for me. 3 stars because it's Elta with good ingredients, but I can't give it more, due to how this formula is a definite mismatch for me & I won't buy it again.

On the fence
I have used this twice and my skin feels dry after I wash my face at night and does not have the glow that the old UV Elements gave me. I don’t know why they had to change it.

Good sunscreen
I bought this sunscreen because I like the Elta MD clear sunscreen which goes on easily and feels moist. The UV AOX sunscreen isn’t as easy to rub in and feels dry when you get it rubbed in. This sunscreen is supposed to be better for aging skin, but I really like the clear Elta MD sunscreen better. Will not order the UV AOX again.

New formula is as orange as the old one on me
Like the previous UV Elements formula, this reformulation feels nice on my skin and I imagine the protection is good. However, also like the previous formula, it is ORANGE on my fair skin. I don't know why they don't offer an untinted version.
